با وجودی که حقیر شمردن این آیین مقدس یا غفلت در مورد آن گناه بزرگی محسوب میگردد با این حال تعمید به طور جدا نشدنی با فیض و نجات الهی مربوط نیست. ممکن است شخصی بدون تعمید دارای نجات و تولد تازه باشد و بر عکس تمام کسانی که تعمید گرفتهاند به طور حتم تولد تازه ندارند.
